Peg System
RULES FOR PEGGING SYSTEM
- Only ONE peg per member is issued for use in all playing sessions.
- Player is responsible for the safe keeping of his/her own peg. A fee of $1 for a loan peg (forgot to bring it in) or $2 for a replacement peg applies if a member does not have his/her peg at the playing session.
- Player comes in on the night has to pay the session fee before he/she can put his/her peg on the board. Failing that will risk having his/her peg removed by the committee and put to the back the picking queue.
- A board with hangers marked with Playing Courts indicates the courts in play.
- Another set of hangers marked with Waiting Courts are queues waiting to go in when the courts in play finish their games.
- Hangers marked with Finished are for teams that have just finished their games and pegs to be put to the back of the picking queue.
- Based on the 'first in first on' basis, player places his/her peg on the hanger marked with Playing Courts according to which court he/she is going to play on.
- Once the 4 courts are filled, next one in will place the peg on the line at the bottom edge of the board, with the Picking Queue starting from left to right.
- When there are 6 or more pegs, they can start organising the team for the Waiting queue.
- The rule is always, the peg on the left most gets to pick the next 3 out of the next 5 to his/her immediate right except when there are less than 5 pegs.
- The sets of 4 pegs will then be put on the hanger marked with Waiting Courts.
- The picker must inform the players concerned immediately and is responsible to gather his/her players to the court when it is their turn to play.
- If a player being picked chose not to play in that group, he/she will inform the picker immediately and move his/her peg to the end of the picking queue.
- Similarly, if the picker chose not to pick, he can forfeit his/her right to pick but has to move his/her peg to the end of the picking queue.
- If any one wishes to partner or play with a certain player/s, he/she can piggy back the peg/s (up to 2 pegs) but the order of play always goes back to the position of the peg involved in the piggy back that is the furthest on the picking queue.
- When one game finishes, the picker in Waiting 1 shall remove the pegs of the team leaving the court, place it in the Finished hanger and put his/her team’s pegs in the vacated Playing Court hanger and call out the players to come on court.
- The picker of the team on Waiting 2 is responsible for removing the pegs from the Finished hanger and placing them in the picking queue with the winner of the game to have priority in the picking queue.
- He/She will then move the pegs from Waiting 2 to Waiting 1, Waiting 3 to Waiting 2 etc. and call out the first player on the picking queue to pick his/her team.
- Late comers in will have his/her peg placed in the Picking Queue and wait. He/She does not automatically get to play in the next game.
- If your name is called repeatedly and not responded, your peg will be moved to the end of the picking queue. So, pay attention and stay close to the courts.
- Committee member reserves the right to arrange the players pairing with the aim of giving our club members reasonably competitive games.
